Marine Splitting Trick

Tired of seeing your marines explode into green goo? Do you watch Marine King execute perfect splits and lament that you'll never be able to pull off such a high APM task?

Stop frantically box clicking small groups of marines and use this simple trick to pull off splits you never thought were possible!

As as a group of banelings rolls towards your marines, patrol click them away at a slight angle. From there you can shear off smaller groups with patrol click in a Y or T formation. The effect is that the marines nearest the banelings will turn and fire, while the rest continue to run. This gives you maximum spread since each banelings hits very few of your units, allowing you to increase your cost efficiency dramatically. As a bonus, moving in patrol formation maintains a magic box, whereas move command tends to clump your units.

Banelings are coming! Patrol away at a slight angle after stimming.

Box select some of the marines and patrol click them in the first branch of the Y.

Do the same with another set.

The result is an extremely cost efficient split and trade!

Terran sucks at longer distance maps?

Here`s what IMMVP said in a interview recently. Not I´m not yet sure if its so big thing as he makes it sound but I guess we well see that in upcoming tournaments.

Q: You won the GSL January 2011. But you were eliminated from Code S by losing two fast games to Julyzerg. What do you think about the current state of Code S? Are you confident you will be able to do well in future GSLs?

With longer starting distances on the new GSL maps, it has become very bad for Terran, I think it’s pretty obvious when all the Terrans were eliminated from GSL. If Terran gets nerfed again, I think it will be hard to produce good results. I’ve even considered changing races for the next tournament, but I’m not sure about what I’ll do yet.

What do you think?

TSL Starts!

Im watching the stream right now so here´s a copy paste for what´s up:

This Saturday is the opening day of the third TeamLiquid StarLeague. Never before have so many top players from so many countries gathered for a single tournament. In the first day alone, seven nations will be championed by the best they have to offer. Those qualified for the TSL, on top of representing their homeland, will also be flying the colours of their respective teams. Day One will feature the best from top eSports teams Mousesports, Praetoriani, TLAF-Liquid`, TSL, SlayerS, and Fnatic. The amount of prestige, fame, and respect to be won for nation, team, and individual is gargantuan.

For the spectator, the rewards are almost greater. The matchups in the TSL, on the opening day alone, are some of the most anticipated since StarCraft 2's release. The fact that we have the best players from Europe, North America, SEA, and Korea competing against each other as early as the round of 32, solely, makes the TSL a different species of tournament. One of the biggest reasons for anticipation is the question of how foreigners will stand up against the top Koreans, who of late, have only been growing in dominance. From foreigner to Korean, the scope of skill in the TSL is both awe inspiring, and unprecedented. At this point in StarCraft 2 history, it is not possible to fully comprehend the reality of what we will be experiencing on Saturday. Even the most jaded liquibetters are struggling to make their picks. We are sailing into uncharted waters. Our stabilizing force, the one sure and safe factor we have to guide us, is the map pool.

As unfortunate as the longevity of Blizzard's defaults may be, it gives the TSL the unique opportunity to provide not only the best matches, but the best matches on a new generation of maps that few of us have seen more than a handful times at the professional level. Not even Korean favorites Boxer and FruitDealer have played more than two games on all of the new maps combined. For top foreigners like Sen and Fenix, and the majority of others to follow, they will - finally - be playing on maps deserving of their skill. The only thing the new maps assure is quality. How the games will play out is unforeseeable.

I know this is the tournament of your dreams, because these dreams are shared by us all. On Saturday we will wake up and live them.

A good video for new or inactive players by Day9

First of all I just want to tell you some info a about Day9 if you dont happen to know who he is.

So. He is an ex-Starcraft: Brood War pro player who has won many tournaments back then when he still played in tournaments. Now that SC II is out, he isnt playing it professionally, but he provides high level analysis / commentary for professional matches and gives tips to new players.

This video is his Daily number 269 - Newbie Tuesday: How to get into SC2!

Yeah, its 1h 30min long video, but there´s so much good stuff you really should check it out if you´re new to Starcraft or just feel too stressed to play or something :)

So here ya go:
